Hōkūlei, translating to 'garland of stars', refers to a constellation that forms a lei, marking the middle of the night sky. This exquisite sipping rum, designed to compete with the world's premier spirits, is a blend of seven rums aged from 18 months to 18 years, including Aged Hawaiian Rum Agricole.
TASTING NOTES: This rum offers a taste spectrum of ripe banana, saltwater taffy, toasted pineapple, lime zest, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, Caribbean jerk spices, mangosteen, lilikoi, Medjool dates, dry sherry, rum-soaked raisin, and toasted oak, with subtle hints of koji mushrooms.
BASE RUMS: The foundation of this magnificent blend consists of four molasses rums from Panama, Nicaragua, Barbados, and Venezuela, each distilled to an ABV of 85%-94% and aged for 2-3 years, 3-8 years, 5-8 years, and 8 years respectively.
BODY RUMS: Layered depth and flavor are introduced by incorporating two rums: the Aged Hawaiian Rum Agricole, crafted from fresh sugarcane juice, distilled to 60%-74% ABV and aged for 18 months in Cognac barrels; and a 15-year aged molasses-based rum from Barbados, distilled to 90%-94% ABV.
ACCENT RUM: Adding to the elite class of Hōkūlei, a sophisticated yet complex molasses-based rum from Trinidad, distilled to 90%-94% ABV and aged for 18 years, introduces an extra layer of complexity and intrigue.
